Elvis Costello & The Rude 5 – Summer from the Inside: Tour Rehearsals, 1991 (12-Inch Double-LP)

Recorded at the Arlington Theatre, in Santa Barbara, California, this double album showcases the final night of a week of rehearsals by Elvis Costello & The Rude 5, on the eve of the Come Back in a Million Years Tour.

On 14 May 1991, Elvis Costello released his the thirteenth studio album, Mighty Like a Rose. In the wake of the album’s release, Costello toured with The Rude 5, featuring an ever-changing line up that generally featured old flame Pete Thomas behind the drumkit.

Within a week of the release of Mighty Like a Rose the entourage were on the West Coast, with Elvis and Pete backed by Marc Ribot on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass and tuba, and Larry Knechtel on keyboards – all of whom had also performed on the record.

Featured here is the lion’s share of Mighty Like a Rose, including the singles, The Other Side of Summer and So Like Candy, alongside Costello oldies and classics such as Alison, Accidents Will Happen and many more.
